The Republic of Angola has highly developed traditional art of woodcarving. Craftsmen produce stylized figurines of humans and animals with magical powers (according to popular religious beliefs). Carvings are used to decorate the doors of houses and plastered walls. Utensils and wooden furniture is also carved. Ritual masks are made of fibers. Wicker mats, dishes and other household items are made with red and black geometric patterns.
