Prague
Prague is the capital and the largest city in Czech Republic, located on the Vltava River in central Bohemia. The population of Prague is approximately 1.2 million people. Prague is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it is called "the golden city", "the mother of cities", "the City of a Thousand Spires and the Heart of Europe". In 1992, the historic center of the city was introduced into the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The variety of architectural forms gives the city an extraordinary harmony of all directions and styles from Romanesque and Gothic buildings to Renaissance and Baroque that are whimsically combined with more recent trends of modernism, cubism, deconstructionalism.

It will take several days to experience all the splendor of the Czech capital. The center of Prague is so rich in spectacular and unusual items, that it is easy to miss something if you follow a route from the guidebook. Of course, one cannot but visit Prague Castle, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and Petrin Hill. Wenceslas Square in the heart of the city, and its size is more like a Parisian boulevard than a square. It is 750 m in length and 60 m in width.

Charles Bridge is one of the main attractions of Prague. Charles Bridge has always been one of the centers of social and urban life in Prague. Here was the royal road, and frequent horse fairs were organized here as well as various tournaments and events.

Old Town Square is the historical center of Prague's Old Town. It was founded in the place where the trade routes linking the city of Prague overlapped with the existing market. Its historical significance can be compared with the value of the Prague Castle. The latter is the main historical relic and symbol of state power of the Czech Republic. Founded at the end of the 9th century, it became the permanent seat of Czech kings, and later the seat of President.

The dominant feature of Prague Castle is undoubtedly the Cathedral of St. Vitus. The Cathedral is the coronation and burial place of Czech kings. St. Vitus Cathedral is the spiritual, artistic and national historical relic of the Czech Republic.

The Old Town Hall is famous for its astronomical clock, composed of moving puppets and the calendar. Every hour, the main bell tolls, and a procession of the apostles is shown in the window openings above the clock.

The Municipal House is a striking example of architecture of Prague modern art. The city community has erected this sort of the main palace of culture of the city in the beginning of the 20th century. The Gunpowder Tower is a gate to the Old City in the fortress wall. It was here that the biggest store of gunpowder was located. The rock above the Vltava River is a special place in the history of the Czech people. According to the legend, there lived the first Czech princess, Libuse, who predicted prosperity and world fame to the Czech capital. Modern archaeological excavations have shown that the Vysehrad castle was the first settlement on the site of modern Prague.

Troja Castle is an elegant Baroque palace, one of the most beautiful summer residences in Czech capital. Petrin Observation Tower, which was built at the initiative of Czech Tourist Club after attending the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889, was inspired by the Eiffel Tower. Another attraction is a modern building of unusual design, officially known as "Dancing House" which is visited by thousands of tourists.
