Bangkok: the Spirit of the East

With the rapid industrial development, Bangkok amazingly manages to keep their cultural heritage at a very high level. Roofs rising to the sky, gleaming towers of the Grand Palace and numerous city churches, such as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Temple of Dawn and other treasures - all this presents itself to the guests of the city as an Oriental miracle. In Bangkok, there are more than four hundred churches, each of them attractive in its own manner.

It is interesting to visit the Grand Chakri Palace, the Golden Temple Mount, Wimanmek Palace which was the favorite residence of King Rama V and the largest building from the golden teak wood. A lot of tourists dare to visit the snake farm at the Pasteur Institute where venomous snakes are kept. Wat Raybonit has an amazing design and decor, and Wat Suvankaram draws the tourists with its beautiful pictures.

The complex of the Royal Palace, built in 1783, includes a huge number of buildings and temples. The list of attractions opens with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha which houses the state shrine and the most respected in Thailand Buddha statue made of jade. Here one also finds the Royal Awards Pavilion where the exhibition of royal regalia, decorations, medals and coins is presented.

The Temple of the Great Relic (Wat Mahadhatu) is the monastery built specifically for storing sacred relics, with the Buddhist University and the Center for the Study of meditation located here. The Temple of Golden Buddha (Wat Trai Mit) is a place that presents an extraordinary statue of the seated Buddha, 5.5 tons of gold, which is 700 years old. Earlier, the statue was covered with plaster, but one day, when transporting, a piece of plaster fell off and underneath a real treasure was found, cast in pure gold. The Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, opposite the Grand Palace. The temple is famous for its massive 79-meter high central tower, decorated with colorful ceramic tiles and porcelain. The most beautiful view of the temple opens at sunset from the opposite riverbank. The National Museum (Bangkok National Museum) contains the largest in Southeast Asia works of art, ranging from the Bronze Age period and ending in Bangkok. The complex consists of several beautiful old buildings, once used as a palace. Lumphini Park is the biggest park in Bangkok often called the "green lungs of the city". Safari Park (Safari World) is a huge park which hosts animals from around the world living in the open. The park is divided into four zones: Safari Park with animals from Africa and Asia; Bird Park, Monkey Island and the area for games. The city's Rose Garden is a real sea of ??tropical flowers, roses, and orchids. Tourists also enjoy the exotic floating market Damnoen Saduk.

Crocodile Farm is home to more than 30,000 freshwater and saltwater crocodiles and is considered the largest in the world. World of Dreams is a fantasy-park in a classic European style located near the city airport. Admirers of sea creatures and water can go to the Oceanarium (Siam Ocean World) or Aquapark Siam where a huge number of attractions, including swimming pools, fountains, waterfalls, slides and even an artificial sea for surfers can be found. Bangkok also offers great opportunities for shopping. Ranging from small shops to well-known among Russian tourists wholesale markets Bobey and Praturam up to huge shopping centers in the area of Pratunama and Rachada Street. In addition to the many souvenirs, the visitors tend to buy jewelry, world-famous Thai silk, leather goods, products of teak wood, ceramic and bronze here.
