Paris
The classic sights of Paris are known to everyone since childhood. The Eiffel Tower is a symbol of the city. The tower was built to the opening of the World Expo in 1889. A good view of Paris is also available from the platform of Notre Dame, its most famous cathedral. One of the richest museums in the world, the Louvre dates back to the 12th century, when King Philip Augustus built a powerful fortress along the Seine for defensive purposes. In the 14th century it was transformed into a royal residence which was later demolished and reshaped as a new palace.

However, all these places are so popular among tourists, that at times they suffer from them. But to feel the unique spirit of Paris, it is not necessary to crowd near the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, or stand in line for an elevator in the Eiffel Tower. Paris has a great many of other attractions, which are less conventional but no less beautiful.

The park "France in Miniature" is not far from Paris. The models of all important sights of France are presented on the vast territory. Here, the Eiffel Tower is just a little higher than the tourists themselves, and the Notre-Dame de Paris is even a little lower. The park represents cities, villages and castles, the airports, the Alps and, of course, Fort Boyard.

Not everyone knows that Paris has the so-called Aquaboulevard. It is divided into two parts - indoor and outdoor. Every 15 minutes there is a warning signal which means that the wave begins to drive various attractions. The building of the water park hosts a gym, sports shops, a cinema and a restaurant. Parc Monceau is one of the most beautiful parks in the French capital. Monceau is a quiet and comfortable place, and the romantic mood is enhanced by artificial waterfalls and cliffs.

Sacre Coeur is considered to be the second most popular church in Paris after Notre Dame. There are a lot of tourists near Sacre Coeur, and they like to make photographs on a long staircase at the foot of the church.

Waxwork Grevin is the most expensive museum in Paris, located on Montmartre boulevard. This museum is the French response to the British Madame Tussauds Museum. The museum is a favorite working-place for actor-mimes who stand among sculptures and occasionally greet visitors with a hospitable French "bonjour". Jardin des Tuileries connects the Louvre and Place de la Concorde which leads to the Champs Elysees. Tuileries is the garden with ponds of indescribable beauty, attractions, and shops. Before the revolution, Tuileries was an exceptionally aristocratic place, but now it is a popular holiday destination of Parisians and tourists. Champs Elysees is a broad and long avenue where you can not only walk, but visit different shops and boutiques, sit in a cafe, or dine at an expensive restaurant. Here are offices of major companies and tourist centers.

Paris is situated on the banks of the Seine river. Along the river, there are dozens of shops with rare collections of bygone centuries and quiet cafes where one can have good coffee with real French croissants.

Paris is a quite compact city by our standards. Walking on foot along its streets, in green parks and across its carved bridges is very nice and interesting. Thus one can admire the brilliance of church domes, explore the beauty of Notre Dame, and visit bohemian Latin Quarter. Paris is so different at daytime and at night, with its cathedrals and nightclubs, its galleries and streets, that it is impossible to fully understand it.
