Shanghai
Shanghai is the place where the Yangtze meets the sea, so the city is the gateway to the Yangtze River basin. Shanghai is one of the most famous Chinese cities, which is ruled directly by the central government. The population of the giant megapolis is 13.27 million people. Shanghai is the economic, financial, commercial, and communication center of China, a comprehensive industrial base and a famous historical city.

Shanghai is the most radical city in China. It has had various names during the period of its existence: Paris of the East, Queen of the East, the city of adventurers, players, sailors, and opium traders...

Quay Vaytan is the place where street performers or traders entertain the passers-by with tricks. The surrounding buildings are made in the neo-classical style of the 1930-s and look like their brethren in Chicago and New York. Vaytan is the symbol of Shanghai, also known as "the fair of architecture of ten thousand states". The atmosphere of other states really flourishes here. Vaytan is especially beautiful at night when the city is illuminated with colored lights.

Nankinlu Street is the trading Eldorado of China where you can find almost everything. Until 1949, there had been mostly prestigious restaurants, shops and night clubs in Nankinlu. As for shopping, this is still true. It is so nice to take a stroll along Nankinlu street at night to see dozens of bright windows and sparkling neon lights... The French Quarter, or rather the French city, is the area which had been occupied by the French Concession. In the 1920-s and 1930-s the quarter was almost entirely populated by white immigrants. Russian people accounted for one third of the foreign population of Shanghai in those years. They worked as tailors, driving instructors, bodyguards, opened numerous cafes and studios which are still grouped around this street, and many buildings are still there.

The Yu Yuan Garden and Bazaar is a vast bazaar area in the northeastern part of the old Chinatown. The center of it is the Yu Yuan Garden, or otherwise, Mandarin Garden and the Temple City of the Gods. Many tourists consider it one of the most interesting places in Shanghai. The Garden was created in the 16th century by a wealthy family of civil servants Ming. The garden includes the temple of City Gods who have been expected to keep the peace and tranquility in Shanghai. Around the temple and the garden there appeared a trading zone. The tourists enter it through Usintin, an original pentagonal building in the center of the pond. The adjacent bazaar has more than a hundred shops and stalls selling all kinds of souvenirs with Chinese symbols, Chinese paintings, antiquities, bamboo, the products made of shells, wine, chicken soup, pies, radishes, etc.

Jade Buddha Temple was built in 1918. Outside, its walls are easy to find due to a bright saffron color. Inside, the most important thing is the two-meter statue of Buddha made of white jade. Buddha was brought to the province of Zhejiang from Burma. The statue weighs about a thousand kilos, and there are three more gold-plated Buddha statues in other halls. They are arranged as awesome deities - the defenders of the Doctrine. And the temple walls are decorated with 7 thousand Buddhist sutras.

Hongkou Park is located in northern Shanghai. As a tourist attraction, it is known for the tomb of the writer Lu Xun, the founder of modern Chinese literature, the famous scholar and teacher. Still, he was not a communist, and most of his books were banned. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower was built in 1994, and the height of the tower is 468 m. It is the tallest TV tower in Asia and the third highest in the world. The tower has truly become a symbol of Shanghai.
